Lessons from Abraham’s Blessing -1

TOYE OGUNGBE·TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2016·

In Genesis 12:1-3, The Lord said to Abraham: Get out of your country, from your family, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you...And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

God is a good Father, generous and loving. God is love and love gives! Here we see God in my words ”adopting Abraham as His son” and making him part of His family. Therefore, qualifying him to enjoy limitless family benefits. Even here on earth we know that being born, married or adopted into certain families can mean exceptional influence, wealth and power. We talk about family name, ties, inheritance etc. Abraham became a member of God’s family and God lavished His love upon him. God entered into a covenant relationship with Abraham and lavished covenant blessings upon him. God now gives every family on earth the choice to be partakers of this covenant blessing and more. God has said: Through Abraham all families of the earth shall be blessed. How can we in this generation experience the special providence that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and king David enjoyed?

The answer is in Galatians 3:13-14: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Get connected today to the blessing of Abraham which is in Christ. The keyword in this lesson is FAMILIES which in the Hebrew is mishpacah which means a family of people, a type, class or kind of people. May God’s family blessings manifest in our lives today. Amen
